UNDER PRESSURE (DON’T RUN FROM HARD CHALLENGES)

While reading and studying for a cell physiology test I came across the term overload principle.
An overload principle is the theory that exercising at a level above what is normal for you, your body will start to adapt to the stress you place it under. Does this not apply to our lives. We run from loads and especially overloads. One of my favorite quotes from William James, “Most people never run far enough on their first wind to find out that they have a second wind.”
People too often run from pressure or situations that challenge them. Yet, we set personal goals that are pretty much impossible to achieve without sweat. Remember the old saying, “Anything worth having is worth working for.” The process will be tough but you are fully capable of surviving. Stick to it! Never doubt yourself. Develop a determined mindset and convince yourself that failure is not an option. In fact, the only time you should doubt yourself, if ever, is when you do not feel that you are being challenged. RUN! Make sure that you are challenged, pushed, and uncomfortable for the majority of your journey. Never allow yourself to be comfortable. This relates to all goals.
Goals:
  • Weight loss
  • Demanding job promotion
  • Business start up
  • Med school
No matter what the goal is, never run from the challenges that come with it. Roll your sleeves up and face the challenges. Your body can handle it and your body will adapt to the challenge. You will be surprised at what you are capable of.
Also, remember:  2 Chronicles 15:7 “But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”
