DO YOU HAVE THE MINDSET OF A CHICKEN OR A PIG?

DO YOU HAVE THE MINDSET OF A CHICKEN OR A PIG?

We all know the story of the chicken & the pig. They are walking together and they pass a charity ball. The chicken tells the pig, “Hey, we should donate some ham and eggs for charity.” Sounds great, huh? The pig looks over and says, “For you it’s a contribution but for me it’s a sacrifice.”
When setting goals I feel that sometimes we have the “if we build it, they will come” mentality. Some examples of this:
  • I attend the class, so I should pass?
  • I attend church, so I should go to heaven?
  • I...

“TO BE” OR “TO DO”

“TO BE” OR “TO DO”

In life, we set out to be the best that we can be from a very young age. We are often told to go be great, go be awesome, and to go be a leader. We often take jobs or create inventions in the likelihood of being the best. We want to be the who’s who!

What if we put a spin on all of this? Instead of saying go be the best, we say go do your best.

What do you mean? I’m happy you asked.
You can go talk to any kid out...

UNDER PRESSURE (DON’T RUN FROM HARD CHALLENGES)

UNDER PRESSURE (DON’T RUN FROM HARD CHALLENGES)

While reading and studying for a cell physiology test I came across the term overload principle.
An overload principle is the theory that exercising at a level above what is normal for you, your body will start to adapt to the stress you place it under. Does this not apply to our lives. People too often run from pressure or situations that...

What is your rating?

What is your rating?

I was recently watching a movie on Netflix and thought to myself “What made me choose this movie”? Of course it was the movie rating. This particular movie had 4 stars out of 5. Of course I am going to watch it. Who wouldn’t?

This made me think about the world that we live in today. Everything is based off of a rating or judgment system.

Our common rating systems:
  • How many facebook likes we get
  • How many followers we have on instagram or twitter
  • How many people like our business on yelp
  • How many people we...

Bully Yourself

Bully Yourself

I was recently reading the definition of bullying (found below). I’ll let you guys catch up. Please read.

Bullying is the use of force, threat, or coercion to abuse, intimidate, or aggressively dominate others.

I immediately thought of myself, my friends and fellow goal setters. What if we replace that last word “others” and replace it with “ourself”?

Meaning the people I hang around we bully ourselves. You ask how is this possible?

When I set a goal and write it on paper sometimes I find myself whining:
  • I can’t...
