I believe it was Bruno Mars in Uptown Funk that yelled out "Don't believe me Just watch." I was reminded of this today after I finished a pretty tough workout.
Now anyone that knows me can tell you that I write my workouts down on paper before going to do it. Why? Because if I don't write it down prior to arriving to the track or gym could you imagine how easy it would be to change it? Once it's on paper no matter how ridiculous it seems, I must do it! Now we have all had that workout that we wrote and when we suddenly arrive at our glorious workout destination aka battlefield we think to ourselves "what drug was that idiot (myself) on when he wrote this". Yes, of course I do it because it's written! It is law!
I thought to myself in the world that we live in today it is with ease that we tell someone our goals and they snicker at us. They may even roll their eyes and say let's be realistic. Afterall, are we not taught in school that our goals should be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely).
For time purposes let's go focus on Realistic.I agree with all others but what is realistic?
- If a high schooler would have said in the 1960's that they were going to run a sub 4 minute mile people would have yelled "Come on buddy! Let's be realistic." Well I guess Jim Ryun shut them up didn't he?
- I'm sure when someone heard that Walt Disney said he was going to start an American company based off a male mouse and female mouse named Mickey and Minnie people would have laughed at him. Thank God he did not listen. Those mice went on to win him 59 academy awards.
If that is not enough for you to jump up out of your seat and get to moving read further.
In the Bible, Isaiah 43:19 (NCV) reads, "Look at the new thing I am going to do. It is already happening. Don't you see it? I will make a road in the desert and rivers in the dry land."
In summation, he is stating that he is about to do the impossible aka the unrealistic! Approach all of your goals with this mentality! Once written down there is no going back unless you are making amendments that will enhance the goal.
Stick to it!
If you ever have a sense of self doubt refer to manual. What is the manual? Are you even listening?
The goal you wrote down! Stay with me!
You can do whatever you put your mind to. No matter how unrealistic it may seem! Go forward. Never stop. Go achieve what's already yours! I mean Isaiah did say "It's already happening. Don't you see it."
I have faith in you and I know you can do it!
